Bengals cheerleader accused of having sex with a student

30 Mar

Pro sports cheerleaders actually do hold regular jobs. To some it’s hard to believe the jobs outside of cheerleading aren’t in the sex industry. Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader, Sarah Jones, was a teacher, which means she was actually pretty bright and had a good head on her shoulders. To some that may be a shocker.

Jones, the team captain of the Ben-Gals, has found herself in a bit of trouble stemming from her days as a teacher. Jones was indicted Thursday for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student when she was a teacher at Dixie Heights High School.

Her mother Cheryl Jones was indicted on a charge of tampering with physical evidence in her daughter’s case. Cheryl Jones, the principal at Twenhofel Middle School in Independence, expressed surprise when informed by a reporter of her indictment. She referred all questions to her lawyer. The tampering charge is also a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Keeping it all in the family. Remember, all of this is alleged.

A Kenton County grand jury indicted Sarah Jones on first-degree sexual abuse. She was also indicted on a charge unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited acts. The charges are felonies that are each punishable by up to five years in prison.

I wonder how all this came to light. I know the kid had to think he had it going on. Doing “it” with a teacher and NFL cheerleader. Man, talk about a daily double.

The lawyer, Charles T. Lester Jr., confirmed he was representing Cheryl Jones, in addition to her daughter, but declined to comment. In a written statement released later, Lester said both women will be pleading not guilty.

“Sarah has maintained her innocence. The indictment of her mother is completely baseless,” the statement noted.

Both women were booked into Kenton County jail on Thursday. Cash bonds were set at $50,000 for Sarah Jones and $30,000 for Cheryl Jones. The daughter and mother are scheduled to be arraigned April 2 before Kenton Circuit Judge Patricia Summe.

Sarah Jones resigned from her teaching job on November 30 for “personal reasons”. No one knew of an investigation of Jones until her resignation.

Bengals’ spokesman Jack Brennan said “the club is aware of the situation, and it’s an ongoing process to collect the information that can guide appropriate actions as warranted. At this time, we are guided by our general policy that it’s not appropriate to comment on legal matters yet to be resolved.”

I don’t condone the behavior of either party in this case, but I know dad had to be giving his son a high five after hearing who he was taking to bed.

Carson Palmer May Not Be Welcome Anymore

10 Jun

After his brother came out and called him a former teammate, another Cincinnati Bengals player called out Carson Palmer. This time it was Adam “Pacman” Jones’ turn.

“If Carson don’t want to be here, damn him, period, point blank. I love the city of Cincinnati,” Jones told Eric Schmoldt of 102.3 in Denver via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “His little brother is here working out, which is a good sign. But if you don’t want to be here, I don’t want you here. I want some guys that want to play and want to win, period, point blank and that’s the end of that discussion.”

Jones echoes the smae sentiment as Tank Johnson and Cedric Benson. Strange that the three players that have been troublemakers in the past are basically telling Carson Palmer he isn’t welcome anymore. Another thing is that none of them are guaranteed to be there when the lockout ends.

There’s A Buyer For Carson Palmer’s House

17 May

Considering the way the housing market has been, it’s been hard for anyone to get rid of their home. Carson Palmer didn’t have such difficulty in selling his Cincinnati area home.

Comey & Shepherd Realtors lists the Indian Hill property as under contract. The five-bedroom, two-story property in Indian Hill had an asking price of $2.1 million. That only took two months after it was listed. The realtor must have done a good job on selling this house.

The house sits on five acres, has 5 1/2 bathrooms, a swimming pool, spa, and golf green. I’m sure they didn’t have to try too hard to sell it. The real estate listing describes Palmer’s house ”an exceptional home that exudes comfort, character and privacy.”

If I’m Bengals president Mike Brown, I take this as more than a subtle hint and deal Palmer to the highest bidder. I’m sure he can get a nice haul from a team that is staving for a quarterback (Cardinals, Vikings, Seahawks). Go ahead and pull the trigger when the lockout is over.

No Bull

11 May

Still a Cincinnati Bengal at the moment, wide receiver Chad Ochocinco is backing up his Twitter bravado. Ochocinco has accepted an invtiation from Professional Bull Riders chief operating officer Sean Gleason.

Ochocinco will pocket $10,000 if he rides a bull, if he stays on for eight seconds he gets a ne Ford F-150 and gets to rename the bull. That’s a tall order for Ochocinco who also practiced a little soccer Major League Soccer’s Sporting Kansas City.

This is definitely a task that’s easier said than done, but if anyone is up to the challenge it’s Ochocinco. He has probably been the busiest, most interesting player during the NFL lockout.

Quote Of The Week: Chad Ochocinco

27 Mar

Chad Ochocinco rating his skills during his MLS tryout in Kansas City:

“The only thing I’m probably good at is being fast as hell.”

Sometimes that speed is called into question on the football field.

The Bengals Insist They Won’t Trade Palmer

5 Mar

The Cincinnati Bengals are standing their ground in the Carson Palme drama. They insist that Palmer will play in Cincy or retire. Knowing Palmer he’ll think he’s better off retiring than going back to Cincinnati. And knowing stubborn Mike Brown he’ll keep him there, which I consider stupid.

Joe Reedy of he Cincinnati Enquirer asked a team official about Palmer being on the market and got this response. “When asked if Palmer was indeed on the market, a team official said that the organization’s stance toward the ninth-year quarterback has not changed — he will be playing here or retire.”

Considering all the quarterback starved teams in the NFL, the Bengals would be wise to move Palmer while they can still get some value for him. I’m sure the Arizona Cardinals would pay half a king’s ransom to land a quarterback after the struggles they faced without Kurt Warner last season. It would set the Bengals back, but they’ve been set back for a while so I really don’t think it matters if they trade him or not. He’s regressed since the knee injury he suffered in the playoff game against Pittsburgh a few years back and hasn’t been the same player. He could benefit from a change of scenery and become the player he once was. Also if the Bengals receive a good haul for Palmer it could make more for retooling than rebuilding.

If Palmer wants out, ship him out of town. I’m sure they’ll get a good deal for a proven quarterback that still has a lot left. With te dysfunctional Bengals franchise, I’m sure he wants to go to where the grass is greener. Mike Brown needs to see the light and stop trying to be a hardliner and just trade the guy instead of flushing his career down the toilet.

Is Marvin Lewis Next In Line For The Pitt Job?

2 Jan

Will the Pittsburgh Panthers be reaching back into the ranks of the NFL to find their next coach. Maybe. Rumors are that Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis might be a candidate for that job.

Of course, I can’t stand to see anyone unemployed, so I would like to see Lewis land on his feet. Because I really don’t see him staying in Cincinnati beyond this season. Michael Lombardi from the NFL Network reported that Lewis might be on the short list of cnadidates to take over for the newly departed Mike Haywood.

Lewis was asked about the position and said “he hasn’t thought about it”. Lewis also said “I don’t know what happens from here”. It’s true that Lewis probably knows he’s probably done in Cincinnati, but no one has told him where he stands so therefore he won’t speak on his job situation or anything else. Sources say that he would like to return, but that’s not guaranteed.

‘Reality Boys’ Team Up In Cincy

29 Jul

After seemingly being blackballed by the NFL, Terrell Owens finally has a home. Owens is the newest member of the Cincinnati Bengals. Owens officially signed with the Bengals yesterday and now joins fellow reality star Chad Ochocinco. Ownes is a good pickup and him and Ochocinco, along with Antonio Bryant gives the Bengals a potentially explosive group of receivers. Of course if this pairing was done about 5 years ago it would be absolutely lethal. Owens clearly isn’t what he once was. Although, even at 37, he has kept himself in great physical condition and still can get the job done. He gives quarterback Carson Palmer another target to throw to, if he can hang onto the ball. Owens has been plagued by drops the past few years and he also has his past to deal with. He does have a lot of baggage, but I also believe he really wanted to win. It just always came to his teammates’ expense. Maybe he’s turning over a new leaf. He was awfully quiet in Buffalo last year. Not just statwise either. I wasn’t in the locker room, but there weren’t any public outbursts or throwing his quarterback under the bus. Even though the Bengals are starting to resemble the Raiders of old, with the cast of characters they’ve assembled, this could actually be a good landing spot for Owens.

The Bengals must like the criminal image

14 Feb

Recently,Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga, was cited for drunk driving and entered himself in a rehab clinic.According to reports over the past week, the team is looking into bringing in receiver Donte Stallworth and reportedly want to bring in Adam “Pacman” Jones in for a workout.Stallworth was reinstated by commisioner Paul Goodell after a one year suspension for pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter after killing a man in Miami Beach last March.Although he got off easy,I can see giving Stallworth a second chance.Jones,on the other hand, seemed to run out of chances. At least until I heard the the Bengals were bringing him in for a workout. If you pay any attention to the news, you should know all about Jones’ rap sheet dating back to his college days at West Virginia.I guess as long as the talent is there you’ll still get multiple chances to play somewhere.Thing is, I really don’t think head coach Marvin Lewis has anything to do with this.I kinda feel sorry for the guy.I feel that as far as personnel matters go he is consistently undermined by team president Mike Brown.I don’t know him  personally, but Lewis seems to be a man of integrity. He just happens to coach a team that always has someone running afoul of the law.He has changed the culture, somewhat,by winning a couple of division titles. But if he is being sabotaged regarding personnel,he should resign and hold out for a better situation.Lewis, not Brown will ultimately be held responsible when the players underperform or get in trouble off the field.Brown wants his input and will let him coach the team, but won’t let him help put it together. That’s why the Bengals,at least right now, won’t be taken as serious contenders.

Larry Johnson gets a second chance

18 Nov

The Cincinnati Bengals are becoming a modern day Oakland Raiders. They seem to like giving players second chances. The Bengals have signed recently released running back Larry Johnson.Johnson was released by the Kansas City Chiefs for some inflammatory comments he made about the team last week and being suspended for the second time in 12 months. This is an insurance policy for the Bengals since Cedric Benson left last week’s game with a strained hip against Pittsburgh. In my opinion, this could be good for the Bengals, especially if Benson can come back healthy. It would allow them to have two hammers in the backfield to wear down defenses. Johnson could possibly play this week against Oakland. This is the third player to get a second or in some cases third chance with the Bengals.Benson signed last year and has revitalized his career and owner Mike Brown brought back Chris Henry after numerous off field run ins with the law.

In other news

Kansas City Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe was suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancers.Bowe took a diuretic to lose weight during training camp.I don’t see how that gives you an edge on an opponent.

The New Orleans Saints bolstered their depleted secondary by signing ex Baltimore Raven Chris McAlister.Injuries to Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer prompted the signing. This could be a good one for the Saints if McAlister can perform up to the pro bowl level he displayed in the past.
